HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT RECOVERY

2025: Monday, June 23 - Thursday, July 31 (Mondays - Thursdays). Edgenuity offerings as in the past (2 sections of 30 kids) section 1 from 8-10am and section 2 from 10-12pm. There will be no classes on Friday, July 4. Location: Germantown High School.

TRANSITION TO MIDDLE SCHOOL

2025: Monday, July 21 - Friday, July 25. Time: 9AM - 11AM. Grade(s): 5. Location: Kennedy Middle School.

Making the move to a new school can be scary. We are here to help! This course gives incoming 6th grade students the opportunity to spend time at Kennedy Middle School, address common questions and concerns, and learn about emotional regulation strategies. The course provides a sneak peek at KMS and time to explore their new school. Registration for this special session takes place on Skyward.

CAMP A CAPPELLA

2025: Monday, June 23 - Friday, June 27. Time: 9AM - 1PM. Grade(s): 8-11. Location: Germantown High School.

An introduction to contemporary a cappella singing. Do you love Pitch Perfect, Glee, and contemporary a cappella singing? Come learn how to sound like an a cappella pop star. This course will teach you how to sing independently and in a small group with no accompaniment. We will also learn about microphone technique and vocal percussion (Beat Boxing). The course will end with a fully choreographed a cappella number. Audition required; contact Jonathan Brooks, jbrooks@gsdwi.org, to schedule your audition.

GHS SUMMER WALL OF SOUND MARCHING BAND CAMP

2025: Dates and time TBD. Grade(s): 8 -11. Location: Germantown High School.

Students will learn techniques in music, such as improved tone production, intonation skills, balance and blend strategies, rhythmic and articulation development, and more. Students will also learn the physical demands of marching, including proper body warm-up, physical training for marching dance, and instrument handling, and the body control for a consistent marching style throughout the band. Instruction will happen in small group settings, mid-sized sectionals, and full group rehearsals. Additional training for color guard, drum line, and student leadership will also take place. There are scheduled performances including the Germantown July 4th Parade, Richfield Parade, and a community performance at the end of the summer. KMS BEGINNING BAND LESSONS

2025: Monday, July 14 - Friday, August 8. Grade(s): 5. Location: Kennedy Middle School

The middle school summer band program consists of beginning band lessons for students who have enrolled in 6th Grade Band for the upcoming school year. These lessons provide the basic knowledge and skills necessary for a successful start to the school year. Instructors will communicate schedules and additional details to applicable families.

PORCUPINE MOUNTAIN BACKPACKING

2025: TBD. Grade(s): TBD.

Students and advisors to travel to Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park in Ontonagon, MI. While there, students will participate in back-country backpacking in a true wilderness area. They will learn camping and backpacking-specific skills that can be applied to the content areas of study in environmental science, biology, geology, and astronomy. The course includes education prior to the trip in basic backpacking skills.
