Last Saturday the Germantown Girls' Basketball Team dropped a hard fought and entertaining contest to state ranked Wisconsin Lutheran, 84-75. The Warhawks erased an early 17 point deficit down to one, but couldn't overtake the Vikings. Danica Gosz led the scoring column with 31 points, while Jaycee Mani chipped in 11. Teigan Stuve played a solid all-around game with 9 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots. The girls take on rival Menomonee Falls tonight. Good luck!
The Bears hockey team was able to bounce back last weekend beating Kenosha at their rink, in a conference game, 4-3 in overtime. Griffin Stein had an assist on the first goal of the game, as well as the game winner in overtime. Reid Newkirk also contributed with an assist on the 2nd goal of the game.
On Saturday the team played an away game (at our rink) against WNS which was another conference game. The team came out on top with an 11-2 victory. Reid Newkirk contributed to the win with a playmaker (3 assists) and a hattrick (3 goals). Griffin Stein also got into the action with an assist. The Bears play a sectional game tonight against Fond du Lac and a conference game tomorrow against Muskego. Currently the team is in second place in the Classic 8 conference (11 teams).
The Bears play their annual Military Appreciation Night against Onalaska on Feb. 1st at the Kettle Morrain Ice Center. This is the biggest game of the season. Come out and support the team and the military!
#2 Reid Newkirk
#5 Griffin Stein

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Article:
Lakeshore Lightning girls hockey
Winning and losing have come in spurts for the Lightning this season, but there have been far more good stretches than bad for a team entering the week 12-5-1 on the season. A 3-2 Nov. 29 win over current Badger Conference leader Beaver Dam and knocking off Arrowhead in a 3-1 final Jan. 7 are feathers in the cap of the Lightning, but a couple other matchups with top teams in the state have not gone their way. A Jan. 28 meeting with the Fond du Lac Warbirds (14-4) will be a good test for Lakeshore as it attempts to prove it is in the conversation as a title contender. The Lightning can get scoring from a variety of avenues with seven players accumulating double-digit points, but will rarely find themselves in high-scoring affairs. Elizabeth Bowers (91.2 save percentage) has been a stalwart in goal, shutting out five opponents this season.
Good luck to the boys' swim and dive team as they head to Menomonee Falls tomorrow for an invitational!
Last weekend, Germantown competed in the 16 team Warrior Duals at Muskego High School. With 5 state ranked teams between Wisconsin and Illinois, the Warhawks came out victorious going 5-0 on the day. Senior Eli Rabideau picked up his 150th career win along the way!
On Thursday the Warhawks traveled to Brookfield East for a GMC dual with Germantown coming out on top 58-19. Senior Owen Becker also picked up his 150th career win!
Good luck tonight and tomorrow at the Highlander Wrestling Invitational.
