Warhawk Pride / Vol. 7, No 31

BaseballYour #10 Warhawks went 3-0 this week with a win over #19 Wisconsin Lutheran and a series sweep of Tosa West.

Evan Lauer tossed a complete game shutout against WISCO, allowing only 2 hits and struck out 10. The teams stole 8 bases, Lucas Frank drove in 2 runs, and the Hawks played flawless defense in the victory.

Game 1 vs Tosa West was a pitchers duel, with the Hawks prevailing 4-2. Liam Hagland came on in relief to get the win and threw 5 perfect innings, allowing no hits and striking out 10 West hitters. Carter Gordon hit his 2nd HR of the season, Vinny Inga clutched up with an RBI single in the top of the 7th to give the Warhawks the lead, and Jon Murkowski finished the scoring with a sac fly in the 7th.

In Game 2 vs Toas West, the Warhawks offense took center stage in the 14-4 victory. The team collected 14 hits on the day, led by Carter Gordon who went 3x4 with a double, his 3rd HR of the season and 6 RBI's. Doug Wagner and Grady Cheever each had 2 hits and the Hawks ran wild once again on the basepaths, stealing 7 bases to bring their total to 47 in 7 games so far this season. 

Logan Zaverl got the win for the Hawks, going 5 strong innings.

Tuesday, April 22

GTown 10, DSHA 2

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the 2nd, the Warhawks responded quickly as Senior 3B Julia Sina (2-3, 2B, 2 R, RBI) lead off with a double and Sophomore C Kennedy Bennett (1-2, HR, R, 2 RBI) blasted her 3rd home run of the season, a 2-run shot that gave the GTown a lead they would never relinquish. 

Germantown continued to add to the lead, scoring 2 runs in each of the 3rd and 4th innings, 3 in the 5th and a single tally in the 6th.

In addition to Sina, Senior CF Emmy Coulter (2-3, 2 R, 3 SB) also had a multi-hit game for the Warhawks.

Senior Kylie Otto started in the circle, pitching the first 3 innings, yielding 1 run (earned) on 4 hits.  Junior Alaina Williams (2-0) notched the win by pitching the last 4 innings, only giving up 1 unearned run on 1 hit, walking none and striking out 6.

Thursday, April 24

Brookfield Central 4, GTown 2

Germantown grabbed the lead in the 1st on a two out single by Senior SS Kayla Preiss (1-2, R) and an RBI single by Senior 1B Madison Werner (1-1, RBI, SB).

However, Brookfield Central responded with a 4-run 2nd to take a 4-1 lead.

The Warhawks cut the Lancer lead to 4-2 in the 4th on Junior RF Addy Johnson's sacrifice fly that followed singles by Sophomore C Kennedy Bennett (1-3) and Junior 2B Alaina Williams (1-3, SB).  However, they couldn't get a big hit after putting 2 runners on in the 3rd and 7th.

Senior CF Emmy Coulter (2-3) had a multi-hit game for Germantown.

Kylie Otto went the distance in the circle, giving up 4 runs (all earned) on 7 hits, 1 walk and 8 strikeouts in 6 innings.\

The softball team went 3-0 two weeks ago and had a 4th game suspended in the top of the 5th inning due to weather.  The Warhawks are 5-0 overall and in the GMC.

Friday, April 11

GTown 20, Tosa West 0

It was a banner day for the offense.  Players with multiple hits on the day included:

Junior Alaina Williams pitched a complete game shutout in game 1, allowing 2 hits with no walks and 8 strikeouts.  Sophomore Ella Saltarikos earned her first career win by going the distance in the circle in game 2, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 9.  

Tuesday, April 15 

GTown 19, Tosa East 2 

Senior outfielder Emmy Coulter led the way with 4 hits, including a double and inside-the-park home run (team leading 3rd homer of the season).  Senior first basemen Madison Werner and Senior 3B Julia Sina added 3 hits each, with Werner socking her 2nd home run of the season.  Senior pitcher Kylie Otto added 2 hits, and Sophomore catcher Kennedy Bennett (2-run HR) and Freshmen Mia Hansen (pinch hit grand slam) belted their second home runs of the season. 

Kylie Otto (3-0) earned the win, giving up no runs on 1 hit while striking out 3 and walking 1.  Junior Alaina Williams pitched the final 2 innings, giving up 2 unearned runs on 3 hits while striking out 2 and walking 2. 

Thursday, April 17 

GTown 14, West Allis 1 (suspended in top of 5th) 

The offense remained red hot in a game halted in the top of the 5th due to weather.  The game will be completed when West Allis travels to Germantown later in the season.

Girls SoccerOn Tuesday night both JV and Varsity lost a hard fought battle to #2 ranked DSHA. The lone varsity goal was scored by Maya Staples assisted by Emily Laitinen. The girls are back in action tonight (Friday April 25th) on the road  against West Bend West. Next week the Warhawks have tough conference matchups as they play at Hamilton on 4/29, at home against Brookfield Central on 5/1 and are home again on 5/3 against ranked Madison West. Come cheer on the team!

soccerBoys GolfThis week the Varsity Golf Team traveled to Oconomowoc Country Club for the Lake Country Lightning Invitational. 

The windy conditions made scoring a challenge on the par 70 layout, but the Warhawks stayed steady most of the day and came out on top with a Team score of 323.  Leading the way and earning medalist honors was Brendan Fredrickson's 78.  Finishing in fourth place with an 80 was Reid Newkirk.  Rounding out the team scoring was Trevor Newkirk 82, Charlie Larson 83 and Ryan Angers 85.  Next up for the Warhawks is the MAAC FUND Invite at 

Lac LaBelle Country Club Saturday. Good luck!

GolfGolfGolfTrack and Field

On Saturday, April 19th, the Varsity team competed at Mondo Invite hosted by West Allis Nathan Hale. The girls scored 66 points to tie for 2nd place out of 24 teams, while the boys scored 45 points to place 8th out of 27 teams. 

Medaling performances for the girls included: 

2nd place in the 4x200m Relay (1:45.59) - Kaliyah Terrell, Addie Bushkie, Morgan Johnson, Sophia Zastrow

2nd place in Shot Put (37-5.5) - Piper Eby

1st place in Discus Throw (139-7) - Piper Eby   *sets a new facility record*

 

Medaling performances for the boys included: 

1st place in the 800m Run (1:57.05) - Jack Wanezek

1st place in the Pole Vault (14-6) - Josh Brunner

1st place in High Jump (6-6) - Aiden Dykstra

 

 

On Tuesday, April 22nd, the JV team competed at the Hale JV Invite hosted by West Allis Nathan Hale. The girls scored 122.5 points to place 2nd out of 10 teams, while the boys scored 30 points to place 8th out of 10 teams.

On Thursday, April 24th, the Varsity team hosted their GTown Invitational. The girls scored 104 points to place 2nd out of 11 teams, while the boys scored 56 points to place 7th out of 11 teams.
